"... AND SO MUCH MORE"

The Story Behind Our Philosophy and Approach to Wealth Management

From Chad: "In talking to people who lost so much during this period (The Great Recession between 2007 and 2009), I soon realized that many already had great investment, insurance, and/or retirement income strategies in place. Beyond that, many of these folks also worked with wonderful advisors, accountants, and attorneys. Yet here we were: it wasn't the BIG things that were lacking, but rather a combination of LITTLE things that often fall through the cracks during the planning process -- things like ensuring that retirees and their families could access their money in the times they needed it most; protecting their families in the event of identity theft, a lawsuit, or sudden changes in health; and, depending on their situation and risk tolerance, ensuring that a portion of their portfolio was tucked under a "rainy day" security blanket."

"I found that so many people I met with had done a great job checking off the big financial planning boxes. They just needed so much more to ensure that their plan wouldn't be tossed around during turbulent markets, or undermined by hidden fees and other pitfalls buried in fine print. The thing is, the solution to the above problems wasn't bigger and better plans or products. Nor did we need overly complex legal tactics or accounting techniques. Instead, these retirees just needed an organized checklist to help them take care of the many little things that are often missed by even the best professionals. And so "the checklist" was born. While these little things can be easy to fix and implement if done ahead of time, if they're ignored they can function like a nail in our tires and significantly set back our retirements at some point down the road."

"Perhaps the biggest revelation of all was this: our checklist not only helped to close many of the gaps that could lead to scary financial and emotional outcomes for retirees and their families; we also found that going through the process typically uncovered THOUSANDS of dollars in unclaimed legal, financial, and government benefits that these families were all entitled to receive, yet weren't even aware of these extra benefits."

"So, in the course of reviewing this checklist with clients, hearing their stories, and seeing their reactions, I arrived at the conclusion that inspired our "... and so much more" philosophy with all of our clients. We believe people who work so hard for so long in order to put themselves in a position to walk away from work and spend time with their family and friends need to have all the important legal, tax, and financial building blocks in place, no question about it. But they also need so much more help, in typically a dozen or so additional areas, to ensure that their lifetime of wonderful work stays that way for them and their family."

"And at the end of the day, we just want to put everyone we come into contact with on a better path."
